Sadie Pegues-Hall is the founder and editor-in-chief of her own magazine, a fashion live stream shopping host in TikTok, a content creator, freelance writer, and an advocate for black women entrepreneurs, among other things.🙌

She has a background in project management where she worked for Fortune 500 companies, and finds it extremely stressful and overwhelming timewise.

When one of her children received an Autism diagnosis, she decided to pivot to less demanding work to have more time to attend to her daughter’s needs.♾️

She then took a job as an office manager for a luxury jeweler which has a shorter work week and daily hours. However, in 2022, her job started requiring longer work hours to meet business demands.

At this time, she has launched her own publication, Meet The Woman Behind The Business Magazine, a platform that supports and promotes black women who are small business owners. She was also doing affiliate work for fashion brands on influencer platforms.✨

When an opportunity turned up for fashion live selling, Sadie found herself at a crossroads. She needed to choose between staying employed or pursuing a new path.

Running her magazine and being an affiliate marketer, she realized that working for someone else was not something she wanted to do for the rest of her life.

So she gave live selling a shot.🔥

I decided to dedicate myself to being successful at it, and that is exactly what happened.🚀

What is the initial investment and earnings you made in fashion live selling?

I made no investment when I started live selling. At that time, TikTok Shop was just being introduced to the US, and so they needed live streamers to be on the front lines to test it out.🎥

I was being offered payment per hour, plus commissions, and given free samples.

I started in February of 2022, and by May,
I would make $1,400 during a 2 to 3-hour session at times.💸

That’s when I really knew that I made the right decision, not just for financial purposes, but for time. I now had time to be more available for my daughters, my magazine business, my husband, family, and friends.💯

Any key tips you would give to someone starting their own side business or hustle?

The biggest tip I would give to anyone starting their own business or side hustle is to commit to it. We hear it all of the time that you get out of it what you put into it, but that is so true! The more you pour into it, the more it will and YOU will grow.🌱

With that being said, you have to pour the right things into it, like positivity and integrity so that you build something that you can stand on proudly.

Just start. Just begin. Don’t worry about not having it all together right now, because you can always work out the bugs as you go.

The longer you sit without taking that first step,
the further you are from the success
you’re destined to achieve.👣

What were some of the major challenges in live streaming?

One of the biggest hurdles that I had to overcome with live selling was being consistent. It can be discouraging when you show up time and time again, and there aren’t many people there in your live to interact with.📱

It will make you question whether or not you should show up as often as you do, or perhaps in a different time slot.🕒

But as with many things, you just have to remember it is a law of averages. The more times you continue to show up at your scheduled time, the more chances you create for people to find you.👀

When those people find you, they share your stream with others, and before you know it you’re generating a steady income.💲

What was the turning point when your side hustle and business started achieving success?

The true turning point with live selling for me was when I became consistent.🔑

Through consistency, I was able to build a community through my livestream. A community of stylish, fashion-forward, positive women who loved to laugh while saving money.

I created an honest and safe space where people could shop, and trust who they’re shopping with because I am always going to give my honest opinions and observations on the pieces being presented.🛍️

That trust in me increased my funds. I have developed business relationships with people I meet through my live streams.🤝

For instance, I have featured two businesswomen, who happened to be on the livestream, on the cover of Meet The Woman Behind The Business Magazine. Similarly, I promoted several items from the magazine’s accessories segment through live selling and giveaways.🏷️

There were also wardrobe and set designers who shopped for pieces with me for TV and movie productions.🎬

More recently, this side hustle has given me opportunities to be a speaker at TikTok Shop events held in New York, so the avenues for success are plentiful via fashion live selling.🎤

How has your side hustle impacted your life?

Deciding to go into fashion live selling has been absolutely life-changing for me. The freedom and flexibility along with the financial gain has been a win/win!💯

I get to “work” when I want and the hours I want while being able to focus on my magazine and other events that come along with that, be available for my family, and not be stressed.🏠🎯

I simply can’t put into words how much my quality of life has improved, but what I can say is that
I am very happy.🙌
