Dooley was a serial entrepreneur who founded companies in the food, market research, and software industries and then sold them for a profit.💸

Entrepreneurship is in my heart and soul, so I am always looking for new ways to create income.

Kevin Dooley

He had just started his sixth company when the pandemic hit, making him re-assess his life goals. He decided to pivot to freelancing as a business mentor and coach, realizing that this is his true passion.🔥

Now, he works with startup founders, solopreneurs, and side hustlers, providing technical guidance to identify their ideal target market and effectively communicate the value they offer. He also assists businesses that may have hit a growth plateau in their revenues, evaluating existing systems and formulating strategies to ignite their growth.📈

Aside from building the right skill set, he emphasizes developing the proper mindset to gain clarity of goals and take consistent action to reach the desired outcomes.🎯

Asked about the initial investment in this new venture, Kevin says, “My only initial investment was energy. There are some opportunity costs involved, but I had such a burning desire to do it - that cost didn't matter.”

As an expert in creating and growing a successful business, Kevin shares his experience and insights on what it takes to start a side hustle or business.

What are the challenges of mentoring?

Well, there’s fear, uncertainty, and doubt. But since what I do feels like my superpower, this is easy to overcome. Sourcing clients is also tough at times, but what I’ve come to realize is that:

If you stay in alignment with your desire, the peaks and valleys will happen, but you are still moving forward.

Could you highlight the turning point when your mentoring business started achieving success?

I spent a lot of time on my mindset. The skill set part was easy because I have learned so much academically and professionally. But ultimately, the biggest inflection point came when I learned mindset skills like clarity, vibrational alignment, and positive energy.😌🧘🏽‍♂️

Could you cite an example of the impact of a business mentor in starting a side hustle or business?

In a recent project with a side hustler, our work included building foundational documents, like his business model canvas to gain clarity, interviewing 80 potential users of his app, and identifying when he should leave his full-time job to focus 100% on his new business idea.💡

Once we identified his target markets and the benefits that they are seeking, we were able to move forward more decisively. Shortly after this work, He was accepted into the TechStars accelerator, received investment funding, and has people buying and using his app!💯🎯💸

What is the best piece of advice you would like to share with aspiring entrepreneurs or individuals looking to start their own side hustle?

Match your passion to something that provides value to a buyer.

Pick something that feels like you’ll love to do. Buyers will see this in you. This will ensure a good fit between you and your side hustle and it will make you feel good. Use the way you “feel” to determine if you are on the right path.👣
